IIITDM Kancheepuram Summer Internship for External Students (IIITDM-SIES)

(IIITDM-SIES) This internship programme is for two months, designed to enhance awareness and interest in high-quality academic research activities among young Engineering, Sciences and Humanities students through a goal-oriented product development at Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing, Kancheepuram (IIITDM Kancheepuram).

Eligibility

The students from institute/universities other than IIITDM Kancheepuram can apply for internship through this program. The students completed 4th semester exams of B.Sc or 6th semester exams of B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch, 6th or 8th semester exams of Integrated M.E./M.Tech. programme (Dual Degree), 2nd semester exams of M.E./M.Tech./M.Arch/M.Sc. with an outstanding academic background in terms of high ranks in the institute / university examinations are encouraged to apply, highlighting their academic performance and achievements including papers presented at seminars, conferences, projects executed, design contests participated, score/rank in Mathematics Olympiad and any other awards/distinctions obtained. The students with external agency fellowship are also eligible to apply for this internship program.

Period of Programme

The internship programme will tentatively be scheduled between 2nd week of May to 2nd week of July 2025.

Mode of Internship

The mode of internship will be offline (in-person) at IIITDM Kancheepuram

Scholarship and Accommodation

Free accommodation will be provided to all selected students at the institute hostel. The meritorious 25 students amongst the selected students will be entitled for an incentive of Rs.10,000/- at the end of their internship period.

Bonafide

Bonafide / Endorsement certificate issued by the Head of Department / Institution, is required. Bonafide / Endorsement certificate issued by the Head of Department / Institution, is required in the specified format.

Outcome of Internship Programme

The interns should carry out research work assigned by the respective faculty (mentor) at IIITDM Kancheepuram. The desirable deliverables include publications based on the work in reputable journals and/or conferences and IPR generation (NDA need to be signed).

Instructions to the Candidate

Instructions to fill up the online form for Summer Internship Programme (2 Months) at IIITDM Kancheepuram

Last Date of Application is 4th April 2025

  1. Each candidate must upload a single PDF file (max. file size 5 MB and .pdf format only) containing the following documents:
    1. Brief resume or CV highlighting the area of interest, not exceeding two pages.
    2. Scanned copies of original / self-attested grade sheets of SSLC (10th standard), HSC (12th standard), all semesters of Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch/B.Sc.(Engg.)), and all available grade sheet of Master’s degree (M.E./M.Tech./M.Arch/M.Sc.). Candidates should have at least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA in all the examinations SSLC onward.
    3. The applicants should be among the top 20% based on CGPA/% score in the College/Institution/University at the time of applying for internship and to be certified by the Head of Department / Institute at the time of application. Endorsement certificate from the Head of the Department / Institute (on institute letterhead) recommending the student for the summer internship programme is required (mandatory).
  2. Each candidate must upload a clear photograph (.jpg/.png/.gif formats only and max. size allowed is 100 KB).
  3. Applications not containing any of the documents mentioned in point (1) will not be considered for shortlisting.
  4. A maximum of FIFTY positions are being considered for May-July 2025 summer internship programme. Accommodation for the selected candidates during the internship tenure will be provided at IIITDM Hostel at free of cost. The food and other available amenities may be provided on payment basis.
  5. The selection process shall be based on merit and requirement by the concerned Department of IIITDM Kancheepuram.
  6. A maximum of ONE intern student will be assigned per interested faculty at IIITDM Kancheepuram as mentor under this summer internship programme, apart from candidates with external agency fellowship.
  7. The mentor allotment for the interns will be decided by IIITDM Kancheepuram. No sharing of intern candidates among the mentors will be permitted.
  8. Check the filled-in details, before submitting the form. Once submitted, no changes can be made in the form.
  9. Applicant will receive a confirmation email from IIITDM Kancheepuram. This confirms that his / her application is submitted successfully along with the attached files.
  10. If no confirmation is received via email, check the spam / junk folder before contacting IIITDM Kancheepuram.
  11. Consistent brilliant academic performance (Relative rank in the class / Institute / University), research work carried out by the student besides his regular academic work and participation/ recognition in competitions will be given preference in the selection process.
  12. The names of the students selected for the Summer Internship Programme will be displayed on IIITDM Kancheepuram website by the first week of April. No separate mail communication will be given.
  13. Please note that successful submission of your online application does not confirm your selection for Summer Internship Programme.
  14. No scholarship/fellowship will be provided to the intern candidates from IIITDM Kancheepuram. For students having external agency scholarship/fellowship, IIITDM Kancheepuram does not take any responsibility for the disbursement of the scholarship/fellowship amount. The student needs to be connected to the external agency directly for the disbursement of funds.
  15. Selected candidates will be required to submit a report at the end of the program. An internship completion certificate will be issued by the Institute for the successful intern candidates.
  16. The decision of IIITDM Kancheepuram shall be final in selecting the suitable candidates for the summer internship. No correspondence shall be entertained in this regard in whatsoever manner.
